In this special episode, recorded in October and forgotten until now, Zach and Russ talk about the trend of making every protagonist an antihero, what (if anything) can bring more traditional heroes back to the forefront, and the role of superhero films in setting that tone.
Also, Zach compares Iron Man to Jesus. Like, a lot.

In light of a recent controversy in the comics industry, Russ recorded a little rant about the meaning of Superman. It touches on elements of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, The Punisher, and Wonder Woman, so while it is nominally a Panel Discussions episode, we are also releasing it through the main ECV channel for broader exposure.
This episode is also SUPER ROUGH, largely because it is going to be adapted to a video essay soon and then the audio from that will be extracted to replace this episode. So if you like the raw, uncut energy of...whatever this is, then download it now. Soon, it will be much more shiny.
You should also check out our new Patreon -- you can find it here, and among other things backers can get a monthly, exclusive video podcast DELIVERED ON VHS.
It’s another superhero episode!
This time, Russ is joined by longtime ECV employee Erica Ladd — a newcomer to the podcast — to talk about Wonder Woman, out in theaters now, and Supergirl, a relic of 1984 that might be better left as a fond memory.
Since Russ is footing the bill for hosting and had to buy some new editing software recently so that he can make all this magic happen quickly and quietly, we’ll probably put together some kind of Patreon so that you can sponsor the show in exchange for swag soon enough. For now, though, if you want to contribute anything and everything, you can do so at Paypal.me/emeraldcityvideo.
